Recreation Baseball (SPRING ONLY)
Our Spring baseball season is for players in grades Kindegarten to 7th grade. It runs from early April until mid June.
We have over 500 children participating on over 50 teams in our Spring program. The Spring seasons are intended to be participatory in nature -- we hope that all players, regardless of ability, can have fun playing ball. Our emphasis is on skill development and the invaluable lessons that participation in youth sports programs can provide -- sportsmanship, team work, and camaraderie.
Our program is divided into several divisions, primarily by grade level, as described below:
Kindergarten
Goal: To learn the basics of baseball, throwing, catching, hitting base running and to have fun. All teams will be made with an equal number of players from each school to ensure new friendships are made. Teams are made of at most 7 kids.
Practice/Games: Teams will meet once a week for a 45 minute practice followed by a 45 minute game.
Rules: Players will use the T to hit, bat the whole line up and then switch, If a player is called out on a play then they are out. No extra bases on an overthrow. NO KEEPING SCORE. No Pitcher, No Catcher.
Equipment needed: Glove, T-Ball or USA Baseball Bat, Helmet with face protection, cleats (suggested)
1st Grade
Goal: To learn the basics of baseball, throwing, catching, hitting base running and to have fun. All teams should be made with an equal number of players from each school to ensure new friendships are made. Teams are made of at most 7 kids.

Players will use the T to hit or coach pitch, bat the whole line up and then switch. If a player is called out on a play then they are out. No extra bases on an overthrow. NO KEEPING SCORE. No Pitcher, No Catcher.
Equipment needed: Glove, T-Ball or USA Baseball Bat, Helmet with face protection, cleats (suggested)
2nd Grade
Goal: To learn the basics of baseball, throwing, catching, hitting base running and to have fun. All teams should be made with an equal number of players from each school to ensure new friendships are made. Teams should be made as even in ability as possible. Players will begin to understand the flow of the game and to work on force plays. Teams are made up of around 9 players.
Practice and Games: 1 90 min practice per week, 1 90 minute game per week.
Rules: First 3 games are coach pitch. After that players come in to pitch (No walks, if there are 4 balls the coach comes in to finish the pitch count, 3rd time the coach comes in during an inning they remain pitching for the remainder of the inning).
Players can strike out by both kid and coach pitch.
If a player gets hit by a pitch they get 1st base.
No advancement on an overthrow (we don't just run around)
3 outs or 5 runs max per inning
NO KEEPING SCORE.
NO CATCHER (played by a parent)
Play 4 in the outsfield
NO STEALING.
Equipment: Glove, USA Baseball Bat, Helmet with face protection, cleats, cup
3rd Grade
Goal: To learn the basics of baseball, throwing, catching, hitting base running and to have fun. All teams should be made with an equal number of players from each school to ensure new friendships are made. Teams should be made as even in ability as possible. Begin to understand the flow of the game and to work on force plays. Teams are made up of 10 - 13 players.
Practice and Games: 1 90 min practice per week and 1 90 min game per week
Rules: Player’s pitch (No walks, if there are 4 balls the coach comes in to finish the pitch count)
If a batter gets hit by a pitch they advance to first.
If a player hits 3 players in an inning, they must be taken out.
Players can strike out by both kid and coach pitch.
1 base on the overthrow (we don't just run around)
3 outs or 6 run max per inning
Play 10 in the field.
All outfileders must stand on outfield grass
NO STEALING.
Equipment: Glove, USA Baseball Bat, Helmet with face protection, cleats, cup
4th Grade
- Some rules for 4th to 6th grade may be updated to reflect the change in format announced on Jan 31 to combine these grades
Goal: To work on the flow of the game in a fun and controlled environment. 10 - 12 players per team.
Practice and Games: 1 90 min practice per week and 1 90 min game per week
Rules: Player’s pitch (No walks, if there are 4 balls the coach comes in to finish the pitch count)
If a batter gets hit by a pitch they advance to first.
If a player hits 3 players in an inning, they must be taken out.
Players can strike out by both kid and coach pitch.
1 base on the overthrow (we don't just run around)
3 outs or 6 run max per inning
Play 10 in the field.
All outfielders must stand on outfield grass
5 steals an inning
No stealing home
Leads allowed when the ball crosses the plate.
No infield fly
No drop 3rd strike
Equipment: Glove, USA Baseball Bat, Helmet with face protection, cleats, cup
5th Grade and UP
Goal: To work on the flow of the game in a fun and controlled environment. 10 - 12 players per team
Practice and Games: 1 90 min practice per week and 1 90 min game per week
Rules: Player’s pitch.
If a batter gets hit by a pitch they advance to first.
If a player hits 3 players in an inning, they must be taken out.
Players can strike out.
1 base on the overthrow (we don't just run around)
3 outs or 6 run max per inning
Play 10 in the field.
All outfielders must stand on outfield grass
5 steals an inning (stealing home is allowed)
Leads allowed when the ball crosses the plate.
No infield fly
No drop 3rd strike
